Don’t be left in the Dark!
A power failure and subsequent loss of light at your place of business can be hazardous to your employees and your customers. Proper working emergency lighting and signage are essential in enabling safe and timely evacuation of your premises.
An emergency light is a battery-backed lighting device that turns on automatically when a building experiences a power outage. BC Fire Code states that Emergency lights are required in commercial buildings, ex. businesses, stores, and rental housing. Code requires that they be installed in older buildings as well. There are many types of Emergency Light units; we will show you the most common used below.
In accordance with BC FIRE CODE, Emergency Lights must be inspected annually by an ASTTBC certified technician. Inspection involves testing the batteries and activating the units for a full 30 minutes each, to ensure that they are working properly. Items that may need attention are new batteries, bulbs, and some cases a completely new unit.
All of ACME FIRE technicians are ASTTBC certified and available to assist you
