In March of 1972, Acme Fire and Safety Co. Ltd. was formed between Lino Tonolli and Bruce Buckner, and was located across the street from where the Joyce-Collingwood Sky Train Station was later built.
In 1974 Acme Fire purchased and moved into a building at 3427 Kingsway in Vancouver. In 1996 a new associate, Michael Tonolli, was brought on board, and in 2002 Michael became the sole owner of Acme Fire. After 32 years at our Kingsway location the business moved into a more progressive 12,000 square foot facility located at 7015 Curragh Avenue, in Burnaby.
Since 1972 Acme Fire has grown from a two-person operation to over 45 employees. Our technicians average over 8 years of experience. This long-term commitment extends to our customers through dedication and knowledge of many kinds of fire safety services.
Our services range from sales, service and installation of pre-engineered and engineered fire suppression systems, fire extinguishers, fire alarms, Shared services ULC fire alarm monitoring, emergency lighting, sprinkler and back flow services, and fire safety plans. We have our own hydrostatic testing and recharging facilities. By providing all these services in house, we ensure quality and control. We have strategic alliances with professional engineers to assist or design specific projects when needed.
We are a manufacturer’s representative for several high quality product lines such as Notifier and Firelite fire alarm systems by Honeywell, Kidde Fire Systems, Ansul Fire Systems, Range Guard/Badger and Pyrochem suppression systems, Amerex and Ansul fire extinguishers, Redilite emergency lights, ZTS battery testers.
In over 45 years of successful business and continued growth, our established customer base includes customers such as: McDonalds Restaurants of Canada, Royal Arch Masonic Care homes, BC Ferries, A & W Restaurants, White Spot Restaurants, MDA, YVR Airport, Finning Inc., City of Vancouver Fire Department, UBC and Vancouver Hospitals… and many other commercial buildings, restaurants, and apartment complexes.
We are members of the National Association for Fire Equipment Distributors (NAFED), the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), Canadian Fire Alarm Association (CFAA), Applied Science Technologists and Technicians of British Columbia (ASTTBC) and the Vancouver Regional constructions Association (VRCA).
Acme Fire is insured with a 5 million dollar insurance policy. All of our established technicians are manufacturer certified, as well as ASTTBC certified.
