ASSISTANT FIRE ALARM TECHNICIAN – Kelowna

We are currently searching for an Assistant Fire Alarm Technician to add to our existing team at Centurion 2000 in Kelowna.

Key Responsibilities:

The Technician’s Assistant will be responsible for assisting the fire safety technicians in a number of different capacities while on-site at a customer site. This is an on-call position, however for the right candidates we are willing to create a career path towards a Technician position.

Duties may include, but are not limited to:

  • Retrieving parts and/or tools
  • Holding equipment or parts while the technician is servicing/repairing
  • Assisting with verification of alarm inspections
  • Assisting with clean up
  • Other related tasks as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Education: High school education
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Some mechanical aptitude.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs.
  • Must have a license and a vehicle

DRAFTING TECHNICIAN – Burnaby

Prepares drawings, wiring diagrams and layouts of Kitchen and CO2 systems and Fire Alarm systems as well as prepares drawings and fire safety plans for clients.

Key Responsibilities:

Drafting:

  • Prepares drawings and complete layouts of Kitchen and CO2 systems and Fire Alarm systems including wiring diagrams, from sketches.
  • Updates existing drawings to reflect changes.
  • Maintains documentation control of drawing revisions.
  • Ensures drawings comply with industry standards.
  • Reviews and updates existing specifications and drawings to incorporate requested design changes.

Fire Safety Planning:

  • Visits client sites to view buildings and determine needs for Fire Safety Plans.
  • With direction from Manager, determines customer specifications.
  • Prepares drawings for Fire Safety Manual.
  • Writes procedures for Fire Safety Manual, incorporating templates and custom information.
  • Maintains a library of procedure templates, updates as changes are made.
  • Liaises with client staff who will be in charge of safety to ensure content is accurate.

Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Education: Drafting Diploma/Certificate
  • Strong skills with AutoCAD.
  • Understanding of Fire Safety codes and all applicable legislation an asset
  • Knowledge of computer software including MS Word, MS Excel, MS Access, and MS Outlook.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Excellent time-management and organizational skills, and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

FIRE SUPPRESSION TECHNICIAN’S ASSISTANT – Burnaby

We are currently searching for a Fire Suppression Technician’s Assistant to add to our existing team at Acme Fire Safety in Burnaby.

Key Responsibilities:

The Technician’s Assistant will be responsible for assisting the fire safety technicians in a number of different capacities while on-site at a customer site. This is a full-time position, and for the right candidates we are willing to create a career path towards a Technician position.

  • Mechanical thinking is a must for this position to understand how systems work, and also the ability to think creatively with how systems can be put together and work with third party devices
  • Electrical knowledge is an asset, but not necessary for this position
  • Basic understanding of pipe threading is an asset, but not necessary for this position

SPRINKLER SERVICE/ INSPECTION TECHNICIAN – Kelowna

We are currently searching for a Sprinkler Technician to add to our existing team at Centurion 2000 in Kelowna.

Key Responsibilities:

This is a service job; you will be visiting more than one customer a day and performing a variety of sprinkler tasks, from fixing a leaky valve to conducting an annual inspection. This is a full-time position.

Duties may include, but are not limited to:

  • Sprinkler and backflow repairs
  • Sprinkler and backflow inspections
  • Service calls

Qualifications

Ideally you are a sprinklerfitter with your ASTT stamp…..however, if you don’t have your stamp, we will help you get it! The key traits we are looking for are:

ALARM SERVICE/INSTALLATION TECHNICIAN – Kelowna

We are currently searching for a Alarm Service/Installation Technician to add to our existing team at Centurion 2000 in Kelowna.

Key Responsibilities:

The Technician performs all service and testing activities as assigned, and ensures that all service calls are completed according to the prescribed guidelines and processes. The Technician at times may need to assist on Installations. Additionally, the Technician is required to complete assigned paper work and billing materials within the allocated time.

Duties may include, but are not limited to:

  • Perform  installations and inspection activities on electrical fire alarm systems. 
  • Responsible for meeting customer expectations while performing quality inspections.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, submittals, specifications, software/systems, programs, schematics and operational/product manuals. 
  • Supervise and inspect the installation of equipment to meet customer specifications. 
  • Evaluate and diagnose equipment that requires servicing as well as troubleshoot problems
  • Provide specific solutions and recommendations to customers on the most efficient and cost-effective methods to return equipment to working order.

Requirements and Skills

  • Technicians shall have experience as a Service Technician within the Fire Alarm industry
  • Technicians shall have ASTTBC Certification or comparable qualification
  • Knowledge of Notifier an asset
  • Ability to communicate in English both verbally and in writing
  • Ability to lift equipment and tools up to 40lbs and climb ladders and scaffolding
  • Possess a valid and clean motor vehicle license
  • Knowledge of Notifier systems is an asset
  • Excellent Customer Service 
  • Customer service focused with ability to adapt to changing customer needs
  • You have a desire to problem-solve and help the customer meet their needs.
  • You demonstrate a professional and pleasant attitude when faced with a frustrated customer 
  • Basic computer skills are a requirement
  • Manlift certification is an asset. 
  • Knowledge of older fire alarm panels/special hazard/releasing panels and systems is an asset but not required.
